Fees for the Doctor of Dental Surgery
We will confirm your fees before registration, but as a guideline, the fees below (in $CAD) were for entry in 2019 and vary from year to year.

Payment schedule
You will pay your first installment of $2,000 (CAD) upon your acceptance of offer in March.
You pay the remainder of your fees on or before registration day in August.
Financial assistance
Tuition Fee Deferrals
You can defer a payment, meaning you can register for the DDS and start the program without paying the installment by the August deadline.
To request a deferral
You request deferrals through ACORN (Accessible Campus Online Resources Network) - a web-based tool that stores all your academic, personal and financial records.
- Login to ACORN
- Click on "Financial Accounts"
- Choose "Tuition Fee Deferral"
If you receive government assistance from a province other than Ontario, please follow these steps:
- Take a copy of your provincial Notice of Assessment, including a covering sheet indicating your name, student number and faculty, to Enrollment Services at 172 St. George Street or fax it to them at (416) 978-7022.
- After three working days, submit your tuition fee deferral request through ACORN (as above).
Financial aid
The University of Toronto has information on various forms of financial aid, including federal and provincial student loans through OSAP, the Ontario Student Assistance Program and University of Toronto Financial Aid (UTAPS).
Student Accounts also have information and support regarding finances.
Scholarships and bursaries available through the Faculty of Dentistry
There are many awards and bursaries available through generous donations from our alumni and other donors.
The Student Services Office will contact you to inform you of deadlines and send you forms to complete to apply for financial aid.
You cannot apply for specific awards. If you complete and submit the financial aid application form sent to you, we will assess what financial aid you may receive from the Faculty, dependent on your financial and academic needs.
Gladys Watson Education Fund for Aboriginal students
For all Aboriginal students, including Status, Non-Status, Métis and Inuit students, enrolled in the DDS full- or part-time.
To apply, submit a letter of application by April 30 listing your estimated costs and sources of funding to:

The University of Toronto Alumni Association Loan Fund
A fund created by donations from University of Toronto graduates.
Loans are available for emergency purposes only for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a full-time course at the University, in second and subsequent years.

Scotiabank is the preferred provider for the University of Toronto (the branch at Queen and McCaul, 222 Queen Street West, Toronto). However, we encourage you to shop around and find the best deal for you.
Ontario Work-Study Plan
This program is funded by the University and the Ministry of Education and Training, and provides on- campus, part-time employment to students with financial need in second year or higher.
