Candidates in this M.Sc. specialty program undertake an in-depth study of the mechanisms and origins of oral, maxillofacial and temporomandibular diseases and disorders. In these specialties, students learn advanced diagnostic techniques as well as surgical and non-surgical treatment. Clinical and laboratory study may be combined with teaching experience, both in lecture and seminar environments.
A combined Oral Medicine (OM) and Oral Pathology (OP) program provides 4 years of study. Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine may also be taken as separate programs, each of which is 3 years in duration.
This program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. Successful completion entitles the student to challenge the National Dental Specialty Examination administered by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
